Rush: A Last Dance

Probably the last time I'll ever see this sign again??

Below: Full-house at Rush. It got worse later. Yea House Babies!

Rush to wait wait to rush... that was the feeling I had last night at Rush. Previously, before 12am, the dancefloor would not have a single soul dancing. But yesterday, since its the second last day of the operation of Rush, the dancefloor was really jam-packed with bodies. Ladies in skimpy dresses, Ah Bengs and Ah Lians chanting their stuffs and their groups challenge each other with their chants, the DJ pausing songs to give silly comments, the famous K-4 (Killer 4 dance songs; Shimmie-shake, The Book Is On The Table, Playboy and Smokemachine). All these were very common years ago and it just brings back the memories...Just that many of in the croud are youngsters. However, I did see some older people and erm, seasoned dancers, just that they have no space to dance.

The atmosphere inside there was really different. I feel that there is a wave of tension there, with all the beats and anthem. Even the DJ feels it and he swapped song. "Hey no fighting, no fighting.. yeah Shakira Shakira Shakira!!" Hips Don't Lie! I was turned-off, Shakira doesn't turn me on haha!

The people who were there and made the night, as usual was Melvin and he brought along his neighbours Jason and Vincent. Too bad Sam injured his arm, else he would be joining us. Kenneth was there too, together with his other friends. As promised we decided to have a Friday Rush outing. And worse still, I had a evil thought of asking Wa Yee along too, just that I scared that Jia Yi jealous!

After rush had closed, the four of us (Melvin, Jason, Vincent and me) made our way to 7-eleven to rehydrate ourselves. Jason got a super big gulp and mixed it with a bottle of CowBoy Scotch Whiskey! Really nice drink. We sat at the roadside and talked about all sorts of bullshit.

Then it was time for me to leave. Halfway across the road to get a cab, A white Toyota on the "turn-left" filter lane suddenly turned right as I was crossing the road and it nearly hit me! If it was about 20cm more I would have flew down the road. I was suddenly taken aback but I managed to dodge in time. I then gave the driver a killer stare and he apologized profusely. Cursing silently (I did not have the conviction to yell vulgarities at him), I made my way home.

Love Mediator...

Got home after work and logged into maple just to find out that my virtual bro and sis's relationship is on the edge... Spent quite some time getting them back together again... In the end I feel happy for them. Maybe its not my magic that worked but its their willingness to forgive each other...

Last Day at TPH: An Appraisal/Testimonial

An overview of the people at Tian Wah Press Holdings:

Auntie Siew: The 1st person I talked to. Very lively and chatty and can be tired at times haha. We got lots to talk about, which is good, as it will kill time fast and provides a good avenue for laughter in monotonous work. All the coffee sweets, food, small tidbits and roll and rolls of toilet papers from her! Its good hanging out with her as we have many things to talk about. Apperently has a dislike for Auntie Kiaw!! Her influence also spread to me!

Auntie Rose: The most flirtatious person at my line... and probably the most chatty one. She's super humerous and we always disturb each other. Rumoured to have many many boyfriends and suitors! Muahaha! She even tried to "tackle" me muahaha! At times, she draws flack from Auntie Siew, Ah Hao and Ah Di. I don't really know why they do not really like her. However, on the flipside, she seems to be suffering from some sort of depression syndrome and she periodically takes medicine to supress it. I really wish her well and her family issues be solved asap...

Auntie Milah: A motherly figure to me coz she treats me like his son! I still remember she "pinjam" me $2 to eat when I did not have any cash with me She is Auntie Rose's good friend and they can be seen laughing together most of the time. Their laughter can be heard for miles! Together with NahWee and Auntie Rose, they would have "picnic-in-the-park" together! She stays close to me, therefore we always walk home together. We always share our problems together... Hopefully TPH can reduce the O.T. to 5pm so she can go back early to watch her favourite drama on Suria! haha!

Ah Di: More like I am the little brother to him. A lean guy with tattoos sprouting from both his arms. However, his manners contrasts his appearence. He's softspoken and a hardworking guy. If not for his wrist injury, he would be one damn fast packer. All the way he's my smoking buddy and he also re-introduced "Ang-Hoon" to me. I coughed badly haha! Nice working with him.

Ah Hao: Another smoking kaki. Some of my colleagues refer him as my big bro...His 15 years at TPH gets him the "fastest packer" reputation. I saw with my own eyes, he's godlike and unbelieveable! Personality-wise, he's a very loud and funny person. Whenever he sees someone he does not like, he would order me to beat that person up! He also likes to sprout tons of nonsense and vulgarities at others. The vocal duels between him and Ah Kiaw will always be in my mind.

As for the others such as NaWee, supervisor Ah Wong, Ah Hui, the other 2 aunties and the indian guy at the other line, I did not really have much a chance getting to know them better in such a short time. However they are all nice people. I will also miss the two chicks who make YamYam cups at the other department. Too bad the more sociable one resigned and I missed the chance to say goodbye to her!

Overall, my short stint at TPH has been fruitful as I have learnt how to earn money the hard way. Not forgetting all the wonderful people I get to know there... Hopefully during the upcoming holidays I get to work there again.

Hans' Visit/Raving Again...

Above: Like a family photo...

Hans was back in town after almost a year being out of the scene. For raving freaks there is no better place to go than Rush. The gang comprises of "Grandmaster" Han Xiong, "Masters" Hans, Melvin and Me and the rest of the guys and gals such as Li Ting, Sam, Han's GF, and Raine. Unfortunately, we received bad news that Rush will be having its last dance on the 30/09/06. After that a new boss would be taking over that unit along Mohammed Sultan Road.

Although its the supposedly the last Rush rave in a long long time, and one of my shortest time in there (11.30pm-1.30am), I'm happy because this is a new record number of people who rave together, 9 in total. Whats Next? Chalet time!

A Lost Child...

Today, as I was on the way back home from work, I encountered a situation which touched my heart. Upon stepping out of the lift at the 6th storey of my block, I saw a, perhaps 2-3 year old boy with a mini school bag squatting on the walkway crying. I stopped in my tracks and looked at that boy. Somehow, the boy knew I was behind him and he stopped crying and turned his head and gave me a teary-eyed look. We stared at each other for about 5 seconds. Then, I decided to continue on my way as I had initally thought that his mom/maid would be somewhere around.

I walked walked and walked till I reached the stairs down. Before going down, I took one last look at that child. The child was crying again, but once he noticed me staring at him, he stopped. Poor thing... I couldn't take it... So I walked towards the child. (I feel that my walking style might freak the child out, so I decided to walk more casually.)

I brought myself down to the child's level and I tried to converse to the child in chinese, but he seems to catch no balls. I tried in english..bingo... I even popped him an outrageous question such as asking him to come to my house instead! (He nodded! But then it would make me look like a paedophile!) He had very very short hair, big eyes... all the tears and mucus streaming out... with his mini school bag... so cute!

After much conversation (more like me talking to myself!), the little boy said, "Mommy...".

I asked, "Do you know your way home?"

He nodded.

"Sure? Kor Kor bring you home, okay?"

He nodded again.

So I offered to carry his bag (a few grams!) and I held his hands and he led me to his unit, which was on the 7th floor.

The door was ajar. Once again, I reconfirmed with the child that this was his home before ringing the doorbell. After waiting for almost a minute. A lady in he thirties walked into the living room.

I gave her a slightly angry stare, "Is this your child?".

"Yes...", That was the only word that she could muster.

"Why did you just leave him all alone downstairs?" I asked. Silence was my reply...

I was angry. What happens if the child had met up with someone else with evil intentions? I wanted to scold her for being so fucking irresponsible. But then, its her child... I guess I have no say how she wants to treat him. But such a situation really makes me feel down.

Sam's 18th Birthday / Ah Ying's Visit

Below: Ah A, Ying and Me at The Durian!
Above: At Marina

Above: Some "Cock" Mascot!! Below: Nostalgic!! Just like when we were small kids!!

The pass few days have been hectic yes... Too hectic till I got no will-power to blog my daily happenings....

Firstly, it was Samuel's 18th Birthday. It was held early, on 2nd of September because Sam's actual birthday is on the 5th of September, which happens to be a weekday. Quite a lot of preperations were made as it was a BBQ. The people that were there were our usual gang plus Sam's friends. We BBQ'ed all the way till the night. There was even an instance where I was told to bring down a volleyball to quench Ray's and Grace's insatiable appatite for ballgame!

Also, it was Ah Ying's visit that brighted up an otherwise dull holiday. She dropped by on the 2nd September afternoon. She stayed for several days thus creating a perfect excuse for me to take offs from my work.

The following day (3rd Sept), we went Sentosa for sightseeing with my mommy.

On the 4th, together with Ah A and his ShuMei, we just glided pass Orchard Road, then to Esplanade and then to Marina. Lots of stuffs happened! I.E. I got Ying to smack a whole Carl's Jr Burger and that made her eyes roll!

5th Sept, I was overtime at work... At night we went over to Ah Mei's hostel for some cork-talking session and toured NUS. I will remember that you can take Bus 51 and 143 to PGP too!

6th September, Ah Ying, Ah Mei and I met up and went to Suntec City then to Marina Square. Got a cool looking T-shirt and jacket at S&K. Then I was determined to get Ah Ying something but everytime, she politely declines... It made me feel bad. Later we got to Chinatown and met up with one of Ah Mei's Kuching friend by the name of Victor. After some sightseeing and lunch, we travelled to Bugis Junction and Bugis Street. At about 8 plus, we made our way back to Ah Mei's hostel and then to the NUS prata shop for some prata. At first, I was apprehensive as Mommy told me that Ah Ying was feeling a bit sick. But Ah Ying just cheekly told me to "tou tou" bring her there. After that, we went home. Ah Mei decided to "TorN" for the night.

Then it was the next day already...after 3 hours of sleep... Woke up 6am this morning got changed and gone in a moment...

Just now at work... Overtime again.. And finally back home. Back home, mommy told me that Ah Ying was really feeling bad this morning. Felt bad again! She also told me...things I will remember...

I was dead tired due to a lack of sleep... Also, I was sad too due to...

That sad feeling has always been with me and my bros since we were small. Well, the "Airport Departure Hall Syndrome" strikes again; the feeling of seeing someone dear not so long ago and not being able to see that person again for a very long time. Throughout the day, I did not really have the mood to talk to my bubbly colleagues... I don't know why... I miss my Kuching and Miri cousins and relatives a lot...

I still remember in my younger days, I always dream that there would be a 500km bridge that spans across the South China Sea so I can drive there as and when I like! When will my dream materialize??

Day 10: The Gosips Just Got Louder!

The gossips seems to get worse and shitload realy happened yesterday! It seems that the rest of the people such as Auntie Siew, Auntie Jam and Auntie Rose all dislike Auntie TUA. THat 50 plus year old woman is really one bossy person. Also, she likes to speak to herself. Initially, I didn't mind her rantings and her commands. However, as the rumours fill me, I get more disturbed. I still remember yesterday. She and Auntie Rose were feeding the books to the sticker machine and I was the person that was supposed to collect the books in stacks of 10. Auntie Rose knew I am quite noobish in that, so she spaced out the books reasonabily. However, TUA just placed the books close to each other and allowed the convoyer belt to push everything in one big mass! The result was a stack of books with its stickers sticking 2 books. So pissed till I cannot really describe it! There was an instance where I just took the whole stack of books and slam it on the other table to vent my anger! However, later, I realized it was really, really stupid of me. thus I went to apologize to Auntie Rose, Ah Di and Auntie Jam. How to work with such narrow minded people??...Tired...
